It could easily be a cover up.

This radio kite is an experiment of news announcement in form of an art work.

This is a parallel power control of news media and the pope, John Paul. This idea all came together while I was visiting Berlin, Germany. On the streets of Berlin my friend was amazed when he encountered the newspaper cover with the pope lying along with the word at large bold prints, 'The Pope is brain dead'. It seemed to me that he is already dead in the photo but who knows if the media is telling the truth or not.

So with this in mind I thought to myself, is he already dead or not? Are they reporting a lie? Often I believe that the media could be miss leading. They have so much control that they could take advantage of people's beliefs. In this case they could have possibly lied to the Christians so the crowed will not have an traumatic shock by his immediate death.

In comparison, Pope John had power over the people believing in him that he could simply cover up his lies too. With these enormous influences of power trip in our world I wanted to combine the two.

I created a kite in a shape of the Popes hat with a gold string running across as part of the hats decoration. On the back I attached a small striped down radio representing the news media, attached with my name, Yukako Ezoe, stamped on the back.

In the sky when the radio catches the signal of the news in the air, the actual sound is demolished and it is simply a sound of noise. That noise sounds like the false information of the media to my ear.
